Most property owners in Dammeron Valley are concerned about the possibility of damage to our
homes and property due to the risk of wildland fires. Most of us take an active roll in securing
our properties as much as we can by clearing out burnable vegetation from our properties and
around structures.
Your hard work, either as a community volunteer or performing preventive maintenance on your
own property, can be turned into credits for matching funds for our community through Firewise
Communities/USA. Firewise Communities is part of the National Wildland/Urban Interface Fire
Program, which is direccted and sponsored by the Wildland/Urban Interface Working Team
(WUIWT) of the National Wildfire Coordinating Group, a consortium of wildland fire
organizations and federal agencies responsible for wildland fire management in the United
States. See web site: http://www.firewise.org/index.php
In order to build up credits, a record of your activity needs to be reported by filling in the
Firewise Activities Matching Funds Recording Sheet and turning in to the DVLA Secretary.
